The Goalies Matter
Podcast
This podcast takes you inside the minds of athletes whose performance carries the weight of the team — goalies, pitchers, quarterbacks — and the hidden battles they face beyond the game. It’s about the physical mask they wear on the field and the emotional one many of us wear every day to hide pressure, anxiety, and self-doubt. Through raw, honest conversations, this podcast sheds light on the mental side of sports, breaks the stigma around vulnerability, and reminds us all: you are not alone.

Every goalie faces challenges — both on and off the field. On the field, they may battle performance anxiety, fear of failure, and the weight of constant pressure. Off the field, personal and social factors such as family dynamics, academic performance, appearance, and societal expectations can intensify these struggles. In many areas, especially outside traditional lacrosse hotbeds, goalies often experience misunderstanding, criticism, and stigma that can take a toll on their mental health. These issues are not diminishing — they’re growing and becoming normalized — underscoring the need for greater awareness, empathy, and support for the mental well-being of goalies everywhere.
In this podcast, you’ll hear from founder Brad Gigliotti as he shares his insights and personal perspective on the mental health challenges goalies face. He’ll be joined by a variety of co-hosts and guests who will offer their own experiences, stories, and encouragement — reminding you that you are seen, supported, and loved. Together, we’ll explore the key factors contributing to the decline in mental health within the goalie community and provide a Call to Action to help you confront these challenges, break through the darkness, and step into the light.
