Welcome to Goalies Matter

What is Goalies Matter?
This Mental Health Support Group was started with the belief that every single one of us (Goalies) is resilient, and that our resilience can be fostered with the help and support of current and former goalies in the lacrosse community. Our supporters provide the place and space for personal growth, self-reflection, learning, and bonding. We invite you to explore all of our resources and content with the hope that you will find the answers you are looking for.

GOALIE CHAT
Pilot Session JAN. 11 at 6:45pm EST
As a member of the goalie community, you have a number of ways to connect with other people who are having a similar experience (s). This support group is designed with the goalie in mind. As a goalie we struggle through life, and a lot has to do with a lack of quality goalie training, lack of support from coaches and parents, and the fall out after a loss. This support group will focus on helping Goalies with questions and concerns they have in between the pipes and on the sidelines. Although We will tip toe on long term effects of these challenges, we won't deep dive into the mental health side of it, we will leave that up to the professionals. We will offer up coping techniques with regards to on-field issues and help develop a positive goalie mindset. We will focus on leadership and resilient techniques to improve your ability to lead from behind. We will support one another regardless as we are all GOALIESTRONG!!

WE REMEMBER
April 1, 2022 the lacrosse world and the goalie community lost a great young man to suicide. Robert Martin was a Graduate Student at SUNY Binghamton when he passed away last Friday. He struggled with depression and warning signs were missed. He was a good soul, a better human, and an amazing goalie. Prayers go out to the Martin Family and Binghamton Men's Lacrosse program.
